Mountain Valley Baptist Church is an old-fashioned Bible-believing church. We believe God’s Word has the answer to all life’s problems. By reading and understanding the Bible, we can know how to get to heaven and how to live a successful life until we arrive. God did not leave us here to grope in the dark but gave us His Word as a guide for life. It has instructions on how to have a wonderful husband-wife relationship, how to successfully rear children, and how to cope with the stress of these times.
We call ourselves an old-fashioned church because we still strive to live by the Bible. In what would be called the “old days,” divorce was a rarity, children loved and respected their parents, and no one ever heard of a drug problem. You can still have this today if you only turn to the Bible.
We are committed at our church to helping all people of every age find the peace that only God can provide. This is a ministry the Lord Jesus Christ has given to us. We long for you to know Christ personally.
Mountain Valley Baptist Church is more than a building. We are not a club. We are a family and as such we lift each other up when we are down, encourage each other when we are weary, and share our triumphs when things go well.
Pastor and Mrs. Don Whitecar came to Pocatello in 2018 to establish an independent Baptist church. Pastor Whitecar has a ministry based largely on going out to the people and bringing them to Christ. People are looking for a church that is concerned about them and their problems, and Pastor Whitecar wants Mountain Valley Baptist to be the church where people can find this thoughtfulness. The Whitecar family came to Pocatello after spending six years in Belize City, Belize in Central America. There they founded the “Independent Baptist Church of Belize City” in 2012. IBC is a thriving ministry today under the leadership of Pastor Rigoberto Blanco, who was reached and trained under the ministry of IBC. After the leadership of that ministry was passed on to Pastor Blanco, the Whitecar family answered God’s calling to move to Pocatello, Idaho. The Whitecars have three children, Elijah, Ezekiel and Sharon.
